Administration Of Medication
To ensure pupil safety with regards to the administration of medicines in school, it is essential that parents provide written instructions to teaching staff if they wish their child to be administered any medicines in school. The written instructions should include the child’s name, the name of the medication, the amount to be administered, the date and time the medicine should be administered and the parent should also sign the instructions. All medicines will be stored in a locked drawer or in the staffroom fridge. Obviously these protocols are designed to safeguard the safety of all pupils. In the absence of written instructions staff will not administer medicines.
